Alcohol

Drink strength is measured in units. It’s pretty easy to remember:

One unit = half a pint of ordinary beer = a small glass of wine = 2/3 of a bottle of alcopops = 1 pub measure of spirits.

Real drinking’s not so simple, though, because not all drinks are the same. Two cans of Carlsberg Special Brew are stronger than 5 cans of Heineken. Home-poured spirits are usually much bigger sizes than pub ones. Use the calculator to work out how much alcohol you’re really putting through your body:
